Solid Waste - Bulk Trash Collection

Glendale Municipal Code Book | Additional Bulk Trash Collection-Residential | Multi-Family |
2016 Bulk Trash Collection Schedule

The city provides bulk trash pickup service for large, bulky items that will not fit into your residential garbage container. This is the time to dispose of tree limbs and brush, as well as furniture and appliances generated from your property.

Crews are responsible for removal of large debris only. The equipment used often leaves behind small debris, which is the responsibility of the resident to clean up. Service will not be provided if bulk trash is improperly placed, deemed unsafe to collect or contains unacceptable items.

In order to reduce blight and assist in keeping our neighborhoods safe, residents are asked to place bulk trash out no earlier than 6 a.m. on the Thursday before your scheduled service week and no later than 6 a.m. on the Monday of your scheduled service week.

It is a violation of city ordinance to put bulk trash out before or after the assigned period. Residents not placing bulk trash out on time will not receive service until the following month and are required to remove their items from the street or alley until the next scheduled service. Failure to comply may result in enforcement action, including charges to the resident.

Notice to Residents

Be aware of unfamiliar people in your neighborhood who may be canvassing the area while collecting items from the bulk trash. Report any suspicious activity to the Police Dept. non-emergency number at 623-930-3000.

Additional Residential Bulk Trash Collection

Additional bulk trash collection services are available to single-family dwellings and duplexes for $99 (charged to the resident’s water bill).

Multi-Family Bulk Trash Collection

Bulk trash collection services are available to multi-family units greater than a duplex, as well as mobile home parks and trailer parks. There is a 30-minute minimum charge of $98.58 and is $49.29 each additional 15-minute interval. Fees are assessed from the time a crew leaves their assigned route to the time the crew returns to their route (portal to portal).

Instructions:

  • Place bulk trash piles no farther than 4 feet toward your home (from sidewalk’s edge).
  • Stack items neatly, parallel to the street or alley adjacent to your property line. If you have alley garbage collection, place bulk trash on your side of the alley along your property line only.
  • Separate piles by category, such as appliances, tree limbs and green waste.
  • No object placed out for collection shall exceed 4 feet in length, except bulk trash (ex: a couch).
  • Cut tree limbs into 4-foot segments and neatly stack so all point in the same direction.
  • Tree limbs and other objects must be less than 12 inches in diameter.
  • Fruit must be removed from limbs and prepared for collection separately.
  • Wood panels and wood fencing must be no larger than 4 feet square.
  • Keep glass separate from other items, in small, sturdy cardboard boxes and clearly labeled. Boxes should be 2’x2’x2’ or smaller.
  • Place yard clippings (grass, leaves, palm tree skins and bark) in plastic bags. Bags must be securely tied.
  • Place cacti in small, sturdy cardboard boxes. Boxes should be 2’x2’x2’ or smaller.
  • Refrigerators must have the attached doors, hinges, lids and latches removed. (Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) 36-1651)

Bulk trash service will not be provided if there exists a possible health or safety risk or chance of equipment or property damage.
