  • The City of Glendale Plein Air Painting CompetitionPlein Air Flyer
    Saturday, February 4, 2017, 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
    Promenade on Palmaire in downtown Glendale
    5835 West Palmaire Avenue • Glendale, Arizona 85301
    The event is open to artists (18 years of age and older) who paint using the Plein Air technique in oil, watercolor, acrylic or pastel. Plein Air (open air) paintings are executed outdoors. Paintings must be done within Glendale city limits. Canvas size not to exceed 18x24. All artists must bring their own materials and easels and register prior to any work being done. Registration will take place from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on event day at the Promenade on Palmaire in downtown Glendale. Between 3:30 to 4 p.m., artists will line up along the Promenade on Palmaire for the judging which will begin at 4 p.m. Award categories are purchase awards and the winning paintings will be accessioned into the city’s permanent art collection. The award categories are:
  • • Council Choice Award - $1,000 award
    • Best of Show - $1,000 award
    • Second Place - $500 award
    • Third Place - $250 award

    The Centerline Arts & Cultural Initiative

    5 p.m. • First Monday of each month • August 2016 to March 2017

    The Glendale Public Art Program is pleased to announce an expansion in funding for arts and culture, the 2016-2017 Centerline Arts and Cultural Initiative. The city has developed this program to motivate, increase and support free cultural events and performances to enrich the quality of life and experiences of all Glendale citizens, while increasing foot traffic in the Centerline District. The Centerline District is bounded by 43rd Avenue to the east, 67th Avenue to the west, Myrtle Avenue to the north, and Ocotillo Road to the south.
