Kicking a Football 2015 Arizona Cardinals/NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition
5 p.m. (registration) and 6 p.m. (competition), Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Foothills Sports Complex, 57th Ave., just north of Union Hills Dr., on fields #1 & #2.
This is a national skills competition in which girls and boys in five separate age divisions compete against each other in punting, passing and placekicking in a fun and engaging forum. Touch a Truck Touch a Truck - FREE ADMISSION
10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Westgate Entertainment District, 6770 N. Sunrise Blvd., East Parking Lot
This free event is FUN for the entire family and educational too! Come out, look at, sit in and “Touch A Truck” of all sizes and shapes. This unique and exciting event is a wonderful opportunity for families to see, touch, interact with and learn about big trucks and their functions. Industrial, commercial, rental, fire and city vehicles will be on display. Enjoy shopping, dining and more before and after the event at Westgate Entertainment District! Telescope 38th Annual Saguaro Astronomy Club FREE Public Star Party
6 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Thunderbird Conservation Park, 67th Avenue and Patrick Lane (3/4 mile north of Deer Valley Road)
Members of the Saguaro Astronomy Club will have telescopes (large and small) set up and available for public viewing (sunset 5:53 p.m.). They will show a variety of astronomical objects including the Moon, planets, stars, galaxies and deep sky wonders. Club volunteers will be glad to answer questions you may have about the heavens and astronomy in general. Weather permitting, please join us for a night under the stars! Halloween kids Foothills Neighborhood Halloween Event
6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30, at the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center, 5600 W. Union Hills Dr.
Children, ages 10 and younger, can load up on candy at the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center and enjoy an evening of activities, including carnival games, photo opportunities, temporary tattoos, train rides (additional cost), costume parade and arts and crafts. Absolute Rhythm Dance Company will be on site with a “Thriller” dance performance. Admission can be purchased the night of the event for $4 ($5 non-residents). Santa hat 9th Annual Santa’s Workshop
10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center, 5600 W. Union Hills Dr.
Kids of all ages are invited to this special event where they can purchase holiday presents (everything is $2) for their friends, family or even their pets. A store will be set up with a variety of items sure to make everyone happy. Santa’s elves will be on site to wrap their selection in holiday wrapping paper.
