FolkHeritage

Glendale Folk and Heritage Festival
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 18 and Sunday March 19, 2017.  Located at Sahuaro ranch Park Historical Area, 9802 N. 59th Ave.  Glendale, Arizona 85302.
Come out and enjoy over 400 performers at this 2 day music festival featuring everything from folk and bluegrass music to cowboy poetry and storytelling.  This award winning, free event includes several performance venues and “jam sessions”  locations for musicians.  Highlights include historic house tours, demonstrations and hands-on workshops led by accomplished entertainers. Rose Society of Glendale’s 29th Annual Rose Show
Saturday, April 1, 2017 • 1:00pm to 4:00pm • Sahuaro Ranch Park in the Fruit Packing Shed Free to the general public
The annual rose show is the perfect opportunity for members of the Rose Society of Glendale to share their love of roses by providing information, education, and demonstrations. To celebrate Earth Day, the city of Glendale, in partnership with the city of Peoria, is recruiting hundreds of volunteers to improve the community and help the environment. Volunteers will help by picking up trash and debris along the New River trail system. Download Flyer  |  Learn more  

 

star party40th Annual SAC Spring Public Star Party
6:30 pm - 9:30 pm Saturday, April 29th,
Thunderbird Conservation Park
The event will be sponsored by Glendale Parks and Recreation Department and hosted by the Saguaro Astronomy Club. Members of the Club will have telescopes large and small set up and available for public viewing from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm (sunset 7:10 pm). They will show a variety of astronomical objects during these hours, including the Moon, Planets, Stars, Galaxies, and many Deep Sky Wonders. Club volunteers will be on hand to answer questions you may have about telescopes, observing the sky, and astronomy in general. Weather permitting. The event is free. Please join us for a night under the stars!

Directions: To get to Thunderbird Park in Glendale, take Loop 101 to 67th Ave and go north 1 1/2 miles to Patrick Lane (just past Mountain Ridge High School). Turn right at the entrance to the park at the stoplight at Patrick Lane. Follow the signs and proceed to the parking lot at the observing field. See the map on our website www.saguaroastro.org.
