39th Annual Saguaro Astronomy Club Fall Public Star Party 6 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Thunderbird Conservation Park, 67th Ave. and Patrick Lane entrance
Members of the Saguaro Astronomy Club will have large and small telescopes set up and available for public viewing at this free event. Sunset is at 6:03 p.m. They will show a variety of astronomical objects including the Moon, planets, stars, galaxies and deep sky wonders. Club volunteers will be glad to answer questions you may have about telescopes, observing the sky, and astronomy in general. Weather permitting, please join us for a night under the stars! Touch a Truck 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Westgate Entertainment District, 6770 N. Sunrise Blvd., East Parking Lot
This free event is fun for the entire family and educational, too! Come out, look at, sit in and “Touch a Truck” of all sizes and shapes. This unique and exciting event is a wonderful opportunity for families to see, touch, interact with and learn about big trucks and their functions. Industrial, commercial, rental, fire and city vehicles will be on display. Enjoy shopping, dining and more before and after the event at Westgate Entertainment District! Foothills Neighborhood Halloween Event 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, at the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center, 5600 W. Union Hills Dr.
Children, ages 10 and younger, can load up on candy at the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center and enjoy an evening of activities, including carnival games, photo opportunities, temporary tattoos, train rides (additional cost, cash only), a costume parade, and arts and crafts. G.A.I.N. (Get Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods) is an annual event designed to heighten crime awareness, generate support and participate in local anti-crime efforts by uniting community members to help create safer neighborhoods. Highlights will include:
