Spring 2024: Green Living Series

Spring 2024-Green Living Series

The simple proverb – waste not, want not – conveys an important message about being resourceful and wise. It also captures the essence of Glendale’s Green Living Series. Sponsored by the city of Glendale Water Services Department – Conservation and Sustainable Living Division, the series is a free educational program for Glendale residents who are interested in learning about sustainability best practices. Classes are tailored for the low-desert region and designed to empower participants with information and resources to live harmoniously with the environment.

Most residential water use occurs outdoors, so sustainable landscape education is key to promoting water-wise practices and increasing our drought resiliency. Taught by industry experts, the Green Living Series covers various topics ranging from repairing irrigation to vegetable gardening. Class presentations often incorporate hands-on activities, such as scheduling watering days on an irrigation controller, that allow participants to apply what they’ve learned.

Beyond taking home information, attendees receive small giveaways and win raffle prizes. The spring 2024 class series will include a free seed, plant and garden book exchange to foster a sense of community. Attendees who would like to participate can bring seeds, plant cuttings, or books to exchange with others.
