GLENDALE NAMES NEW CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

Steven Martin is a recognized subject matter expert and technology leader

The city of Glendale is excited to welcome Steven Martin as the city’s new Chief Information Officer. Martin brings decades of public and private sector experience focused on a high standard of operational performance and security management.

In this role, Martin will set the city’s technology strategy, oversee infrastructure and security, and identify process improvements to better serve our residents, businesses and employees. Additionally, Martin will provide continuous review and analysis of programs and consult with departments to select the best hardware and software applications to meet the customer needs.

“The city has a strong IT foundation and Steve’s technical acumen, and business savvy will help drive our continued digital modernization,” said Kevin Phelps, Glendale’s city manager. “He understands the importance of delivering innovative solutions in the ever-changing technology landscape. Steve’s extensive experience and knowledge of a quickly changing world of technology proved he was the right leader to oversee our IT operations and apply his collaborative and forward-thinking approach across the city.”

Martin most recently served as the Deputy Chief Information Officer for the city of Austin, Texas. Prior to that, he served in senior and executive level roles with the State of Nevada, Viad Corporation and the city of Las Vegas.

"I’m excited to be joining an accomplished team that is committed to serving the community at the highest level,” said Martin. “My career has been dedicated to understanding emerging technologies and cybersecurity practices. I look forward to applying those skills in Glendale and continuing the great work the team is accustomed to.”

Martin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology from University of Phoenix, a Master of Science degree in Informational Technology with Engineering emphasis from Regis University. He is also a Certified Public Manager.

Martin’s first day in the city will be Monday, October 21.
