COVID-19 Rental/Eviction Assistance Program

Monthly rental assistance may be available to households who have had a substantial reduction in income due to COVID-19.

Documentation Requirements: English / Spanish

Who can  apply?

  • Open to all Glendale residents 
  • Total gross monthly income, that when annualized, does not exceed 100 percent of the area median income (AMI), adjusted by household size (see below)
  • Eligible households will be responsible for paying 30% of total gross monthly income towards the rent amount
  • Maximum benefit is $2,000 per month
  • Benefit must be made directly to the landlord
  • Landlord is required to register as a vendor on the city’s website
  • Eligible participants must provide documentation including, but not limited to:
    • Proof of financial crisis due to COVID-19
    • Photo identification of applicant
    • Social Security cards for household members seeking benefits
    • Current lease agreement signed by landlord and tenant
    • Most recent bank statements
    • Proof of any money or income for the household from any source in the past 30 days

What are the income limits?

Income limits are based on household size and cannot exceed 100% of Area Median Income for Maricopa County.

How do I apply?

This program is funded by the Arizona Department of Housing, but funds will be distributed by the Glendale Community Action Program Office. 

To get started, Glendale residents with access to a smart phone or computer should go to and complete the Program Qualification Self-Assessment.  This tool will guide you through the process to determine if you meet minimum qualifications and begin an application that will be sent to the Glendale Community Action Program Office to complete the processing.

If you are missing documentation or information, it will delay the processing of your application.

If your application status is "Counselor Review", you have verified that you have submitted all required documents, AND it has been more than ten (10) days since you fully completed your application, submit a service request on GlendaleOne for Rent Assistance or call 623.930.2854 and a team member can verify that your application has been received.

What else do I need to know?

Household members seeking benefits under this program must provide evidence of U.S Citizenship or Eligible Immigration Status as defined in 8 U.S.C. §§ 1641 (b) and (c). 

Only household members applying for benefits are required to provide such documentation. 

Benefit amounts, will be calculated based on the number of eligible household members, in addition to other program requirements

Federal Stimulus Checks

If you are eligible but haven’t already received your federal stimulus check, you may need to submit a request.  Individuals can receive a payment of up to $1,200 ($2,400 for married couples filing jointly) plus an additional $500 per child in your household.
