Child Tax Credits
It's not too late to claim pandemic-related tax benefits they may not have previously received or claimed on a tax return. The 2021 Child Tax Credit is $3,600 for each qualifying child who was under age 6 in 2021 and $3,000 for each child who was age 6 to 17 in 2021.
That's a lot of money sitting on the table! The IRS attempted to contact more than 9 million individuals and families last fall about these unclaimed credits. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program can assist these low and no-income taxpayers with free preparation and filing to claim these refunds.
