Community Engagement's Virtual HOA/Condo Academy 

Do you live in a community that is served by a homeowner’s association (HOA)? Are you a board member of an HOA? Are you just interested in learning more about HOAs?

Class #3 – March 18, 2025, 11:00am-12:00pm

SAFEGUARDING THE ASSOCIATION: THE 4-1-1 ON RESERVE FUNDS, INSURANCE AND PREVENTING FRAUD AND EMBEZZLEMENT 

  • In this class, we will explore the critical role of reserve funds and insurance in HOAs/condos. We'll cover best practices for reserve studies, funding reserves, the different types of insurance, understanding insurance policies, making insurance claims and addressing the challenges of rising premiums. We will also provide strategies to prevent fraud and embezzlement. Learn how to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and financial integrity within your association's leadership.

HOAS/CONDO VENDOR RELATIONS: FROM HIRING TO FIRING

  • This session will cover vendor relations! Learn effective strategies for bidding, contracting, and selecting top-notch service providers, including management companies. We'll also cover how to gracefully end vendor relationships when necessary.

BOARD EXCELLENCE: ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AND THE BOARD MEMBER CODE OF CONDUCT

  • Please join us for an overview of everything you need to know about board member roles and responsibilities. Plus, we will provide tips on how boards can effectively use a Code of Conduct to manage difficulties on a Board. 

Class #6 – June 17, 2025, 11:00am-12:00pm

MASTER THE AMENDMENT PROCESS & EFFECTIVELY WORK WITH RENTAL PROPERTIES

  • Learn our 5-step plan for successfully and legally amending CC&Rs, including implementing rental restrictions. We'll also provide an overview on common tenant problems and how to effectively work with rental properties. The class will conclude with a Q&A session!
