Project Overview
This project will study opportunities to construct missing sidewalks along six arterial streets, enhancing pedestrian connectivity to destinations, neighborhoods, and transit facility. All locations were identified as highly recommended improvements in the Glendale Active Transportation Plan (ATP). The missing sidewalk segments impede safe pedestrian mobility and access to public facilities, educational campuses, medical complexes, retail and commercial areas, residential neighborhoods, and employment opportunities. The gaps also restrict access to 90 bus stops on eight transit routes located within one half mile of proposed new sidewalks, particularly for those using assistive mobility devices like wheelchairs.
Schedule
The study recommendations will be completed in December 2024. Final design and construction will be pursued when funding opportunities are identified.
