Glendale Avenue Reconstruction Project

Work continues for reconstruction of Glendale Avenue from 99th Avenue to El Mirage Road. The segment of roadway from, and including, the 99th Avenue intersection to just east of the Agua Fria Bridge will be concrete, with the segment west of the Agua Fria Bridge to El Mirage Road remaining asphalt. The project includes drainage improvements, concrete work, asphalt sidewalk, and street lighting. Project completion is expected in Spring 2022.
• Crews continue work reconstructing the concrete roadway on the north side of Glendale Avenue from the Agua Fria Bridge to 99th Avenue, with traffic restrictions currently in place to accommodate this work. Glendale Avenue traffic is currently shifted to the south side of Glendale Avenue from 99th Avenue to the Agua Fria Bridge, one lane in each direction, onto the newly placed concrete pavement. Access to the Glendale Regional Public Safety Training Center (GRPSTC) is available at 115th Avenue (Landfill Entrance).
• 99th Avenue is CLOSED on the north side of Glendale Avenue, with no access to or from north 99th Avenue from Glendale Avenue. Northern Avenue can be used as an alternate route during this time. As currently scheduled, 99th Avenue is expected to be reopened the week of September 20th.
Glen Harbor Boulevard is also CLOSED on the north side of Glendale Avenue, with no access to or from north Glen Harbor Boulevard from Glendale Avenue. Northern Avenue can be used as an alternate route during this time, until Glen Harbor can be reopened, expected to be in October.
• During work on the north side, once again, crews are applying a cement-treated-base to the subsurface of the futuree roadway to prepare for the concrete. This is followed by concrete work, which is taking place during night hours, Monday through Friday nights, excluding holidays, to provide a quality end product due to the higher daytime temperatures.
• Crews continue work pouring concrete roadway from 99th Avenue to New River, and applying the cement-treated base and adjusting utilities from New River Bridge to the Agua Fria, to prepare for the concrete roadway work moving west.
• Scheduled for the week of September 13, crews will work at the 99th Avenue intersection to conduct paving during the week to be able to open 99th Avenue north of Glendale Avenue the week of September 20.
• Access to businesses and facilities is being maintained and detour signage is in place to direct travelers around the restrictions. Please allow extra time for travel during this work.
Thank you for your patience during this work!
